| The Company |
| |
ContentGuard has a heritage of innovation beginning in the early 1990's in Xerox PARC where our foundational DRM technologies were created and incubated. In 2000, Xerox spun the company out and today Microsoft, Thomson and Time Warner are the three primary shareholders. Collectively the shareholders represent all aspects of the DRM value-chain, have a strong interest in establishing the market for digital content distribution and recognize open, interoperable DRM solutions as being critical to the merchandising of digital content.
Over the years the company has undergone an evolution from a pure R&D entity, to a provider of end-to-end solutions, to its current focus on licensing and enabling the market. This current stage of our evolution is based on a belief that what's best for the company, digital content businesses, and consumers is to make our technology broadly available and to foster innovation. In pursuit of these goals, ContentGuard continues to collaborate with industry leaders to create innovative, consumer friendly, and profitable digital distribution businesses. |
